Investment grants
Support for eligible equipment and project costs. Technical specifications, applicant and location determine access.
Research & pilot support
Funding to develop, test and demonstrate an innovation. This does not automatically cover a commercial installation.
Loans & operating models
Repayable capital or financing through an operator. Grants may complement these models where the rules allow.
Austria · a closer look
Replacing gas. Planning renewable heat.
For businesses and municipalities, biomass heating may be one option alongside other renewable solutions. Sustainable fuel supply, local emissions and useful heat demand determine whether it makes sense at your location.
Wood heating: two application routes
The official programmes cover eligible wood-fired heating systems. An EnergyCELL project requires a separate assessment of which components, if any, meet their conditions.
- 100 kW and above
- Apply before the first binding order, delivery, construction or other irreversible commitment, whichever occurs first.
- Below 100 kW
- This route provides for application after implementation, within six months of the final invoice. Check the applicable criteria before purchasing.
FFG Basisprogramm 2026
For an eligible business R&D project, this programme offers a possible route from technical uncertainty to a prototype. The standard funding combines a grant and a loan; it is not wholly non-repayable.
A possible starting point for research on all four LCG systems, subject to innovation, applicant eligibility, Austrian project requirements and own financing.
2026 call: rolling submissions from 1 January to 31 December 2026; confirm the relevant project start rules before committing costs.
For the full EnergyCELL concept, verify the permitted fuel, efficiency, emissions, component eligibility and any district heating priority. A wood-heating programme does not establish approval of the CHP package or FluxPELLETS.
Selected project markets
Across Europe. Beyond its borders.
In addition to Austria, these eight countries offer routes worth examining. Our selection reflects potential applications and programme themes, not confirmed LCG market access, partnerships or funding approval. Open a country for details and official sources.

EnergyCELL · heat for businesses and municipalities
KfW 522 / KfW 422
Investment grantProgramme, conditions & sources
KfW supports the installation of specified efficient heating systems. Product 522 covers business applications for non-residential buildings; product 422 serves eligible municipal applicants. Biomass heating is subject to the applicable technical requirements.
What to check: The building, applicant and specific heating technology must meet the rules. Support for a heating component does not establish eligibility of an entire EnergyCELL with electricity generation.
Follow the required application and contract sequence. Product 522 requires a supply/service contract with the prescribed funding condition; do not wait until installation to apply.

ADEME / Fonds Chaleur
Study grant · potential investment supportProgramme, conditions & sources
In 2026, ADEME supports feasibility studies and project assistance for biomass heating projects by businesses, local authorities and associations. A positive study can underpin a separate assessment for investment support through Fonds Chaleur.
What to check: Check qualified study providers, viable heat demand and sustainable fuel supply. Study support and installation funding require separate decisions.
The reviewed study call runs from 1 January to 31 December 2026. Confirm access and remaining funds directly with ADEME.

EnergyCELL · building heat
GSE · Conto Termico 3.0
Investment supportProgramme, conditions & sources
Conto Termico 3.0 supports smaller energy-efficiency measures and renewable heat generation. Public bodies and private applicants have different access routes depending on the measure.
What to check: Building use, the installation being replaced, eligible technology and applicant must fit the specific category. Innovative combined heat and power is not automatically equivalent to a listed biomass boiler.
Check Conto Termico 3.0 access and deadline rules before ordering; these vary by applicant and procedure.

EnergyCELL & BlueVANTAGE · development with local partners
CDTI · Proyectos de I+D
Partially repayable R&D supportProgramme, conditions & sources
CDTI supports business research and development projects. One option to assess is a development project with an eligible Spanish company, for example on site-specific energy or water technology.
What to check: Genuine R&D, technical objectives, own financing and an eligible applicant are required. An ordinary hotel equipment purchase is not in itself a research project; Mallorca has no automatic special entitlement.
The programme accepts applications on a rolling basis. Apply before the project starts; support includes repayable components.

RIF · Research in Enterprises
Research grant · 2026 call closedProgramme, conditions & sources
The Research and Innovation Foundation runs competitive business research funding. ENTERPRISES/0326 illustrates this route and may inform preparation for suitable future calls.
What to check: An eligible research project and the required activity in Cyprus must be established. A registered office in Cyprus alone does not establish eligibility.
ENTERPRISES/0326 closed on 30 June 2026. This page does not imply that applications remain open or that a successor call has been announced.

Innosuisse
Collaborative innovation fundingProgramme, conditions & sources
Innosuisse supports innovation projects with an implementation partner and a Swiss research partner. This may offer a route to scientific development and testing for LCG topics; energy and water projects can also be assessed for fit.
What to check: Swiss value creation, research-based innovation and the implementation partner’s contribution are central. Under this instrument, funding goes to the research partner; it is not a general equipment purchase grant.
Develop the project with a suitable Swiss research partner and check current submission conditions with Innosuisse.

Türkiye
EnergyCELL & BlueVANTAGE · businesses and tourism
EBRD · GEFF Türkiye III
Green finance through banks / leasingProgramme, conditions & sources
GEFF Türkiye III channels funding through local financial institutions for eligible green investments. Energy efficiency, renewable energy and resource efficiency offer starting points for assessing specific projects.
What to check: The financial partner assesses the local borrower, creditworthiness and technical eligibility. For AWG, energy demand and the water balance must be demonstrated against a suitable alternative.
Access is through participating financial institutions. This is repayable finance, not a promised investment grant.

Morocco
EnergyCELL & BlueVANTAGE · energy and water projects
GEFF Morocco III
Finance + potential investment incentiveProgramme, conditions & sources
GEFF Morocco III supports eligible green investments by private SMEs and midcaps through local financial partners. Its scope includes energy, water and resource efficiency. An additional investment incentive may be paid after completion and successful verification.
What to check: The end customer and the investment must qualify. Suppliers do not receive the investment incentive simply for selling equipment. AWG requires evidence of a positive, site-specific resource balance.
Agree the financing and technical assessment process with a participating institution in advance. Account for incentive payments only subject to the required verification.

EU & international programmes
For development and demonstration, the project’s purpose and partnership can matter as much as the country. These programmes require a suitable project and a separate application.

Horizon Europe
Cluster 5 covers climate, energy and mobility; Cluster 6 includes natural resources, environment and bioeconomy. A matching call and suitable consortium may provide a development route for LCG topics. An ordinary equipment purchase is not sufficient.
2026–2027 work programmes; check deadlines and eligibility for each topic.
EU · environment & climate
LIFE
LIFE may provide a route for projects with demonstrable environmental and climate benefits. A matching call, measurable impact and a credible implementation plan are required. Bioenergy, AWG or snow technology are not eligible merely because of their label.
The 2026 Standard Action Projects (SAP) deadline was 22 September 2026. Other subprogrammes have separate deadlines; check suitable future calls.

Which route fits your LCG project?
Safety & mobility
Research and pilot funding can help investigate sensing, monitoring and system integration. Infrastructure investment and municipal cost sharing need a separate, site-specific assessment with the railway operator and relevant authority.
Technical evidence, railway approvals and procurement remain essential. There is no general grant percentage for LCG crossings.
Research before scale-up
An initial route is research with winter sports operators and scientific partners. Studies should establish material behaviour, environmental compatibility and resource use over the life cycle.
A snow application is not automatically climate adaptation or environmentally beneficial. An investment grant requires its own programme assessment.
From fossil fuel to renewable heat
Eligible renewable heating components may have investment funding routes. The complete EnergyCELL, electricity generation and fuel concept must each be assessed against the chosen programme.
Demonstrate efficiency, emissions, permitted fuels and usable heat. Neither EnergyCELL nor FluxPELLETS eligibility is confirmed by this overview.
Water with a measured benefit
Research programmes and selected green finance facilities may provide routes for suitable projects. Site measurements must establish water yield, energy demand, treatment and water quality.
AWG is not automatically water saving. Compare its environmental and resource balance with realistic local supply alternatives.
From orientation to a project plan
Combine funding and financing.
Define the applicant and location, confirm the technical scope, then agree the application sequence and own contribution. Check whether grants may be combined with leasing or contracting, who receives the support and how it affects the customer’s payments. Include funding as secured only after approval.
